OUR VISION

History: Nirmal Chintamani School

Nirmal Chintamani Public School is a legacy, started by Late Shri chintamani Ji in 1984, who had the vision of a futuristic Himachal Pradesh where clean industrialization occurred, giving opportunities for employment, educational development and up- lifting the standards of living.

The three strict, firm but loving elder brothers & bhabhi’s of Shri Chintamani ji were encouraged to study and attain the first in Himachal, a Master’s Degree in Economics from Lahore, and that too with distinctions.

Shri Chintamani ji was very restless at seeing the undeveloped Himachal when compared to Lahore in combined Punjab; he was keen to participate in developing Himachal.

1951-1958

Shri Chintamani ji stood for the legislative assembly from Arki constituency in 1951, when the first election to be held in India. Shri Chintamani Ji had a dream to take Himachal to the zenith but unfortunately he lost the elections by a narrow margin.

Either Shri Chintamani ji lost elections but losing elections did not come in the way of his vision. Being an entrepreneur, he along with his wife, Smt. Nirmal Devi, worked very hard and developed an enterprise in Delhi and once again they built up assets in Himachal in the year 1958 to pursue their dreams of building a new Himachal.

Shri Chintamani ji has associations with the then stalwarts in Himachal Government so he once again looked at water, electricity and building bricks that he felt were necessary to promote industrialization.

1959-1960:

The vision of Shri Chintamani ji has paid off as the industry that we are seeing today in Solan district and other parts of Himachal Pradesh is basically a result and efforts of that Shri Chintamani ji made in the 1960s.

1978:

After the untimely death of Shri Chintamani ji in 1978 at the very young age of 59 years, his widow Smt. Nirmal Devi ji carried forward the vision of her husband by forming a charitable trust by the name “Chintamani Foundation”.

Smt. Nirmal Devi ji also promoted the foundation of Shri Chintamani ji’s vision of a “Hospital”’ “A School”’ “Programs of Adult Education”’ “a respectable site for cremating the dead” etc. as a result of both of their vision and General Government activities, we see today an industrially developed in Barotiwala, Baddi and Nalagarh belt.

The Nirmal Chintamani Public School has been a dream child of Smt. Nirmal Devi, who devoted herself with sheer diligent efforts to create a modern school from a Crèche’ for brick kiln workers’ children.

Shri Chintamani ji & Smt. Nirmal Devi ji was firm believer in Rabinder Nath Tagore’s vision of: –

“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high,

Where knowledge is free,

Where the world has not been broken up into fragments

By narrow domestic walls,

Where words come out from the depth of truth,

Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection,

Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way

Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit,

Where the mind is led forward by thee

Into ever- widening thought and action,

Into that heaven of freedom, My Father, let my country awake.”
